Two initiatives of protest against the illegal importation of transgenic soy made by Pagnan Spa were held this moring: In Padua at the admenistrative seat of the company and in Marghera at the entrances of the regional deposits.
Pagnan Spa is one of the most important Italian cereal importers that does about 320 million euros of buisness every year. The load of 40,000 tons of GMO soy that has been blocked since last Sunday by GreenPeace was destinated for Pagnan. The activities of this company go from cereal importation to industrial supply, from animal fur trading to real estate to waste disposal. Pagnan is also a component of the Administration of the Banca Antoniana Popolare Veneta and a founder (making a good name for itself...) of the "City of Hope" - a medical center for children. Yesterday the Association Ya Basta, members of the Green Party and diverse activists participated in the initiatives. "A battle that must be continued, including the proposal for the regional law that will keep the Veneto GMO free."
Meanwhiole the block at the port of Chioggia continues agaisnt the Keoyang Majestic with its load of 40,000 tons of soy. The activists of GreenPeace that up until last night were chained down to the boat itself, are now all aboard the "Esperanza."

Yesterday morniing the GreenPeace boat "Esperanza" intercepted the transport "Keoyang Majesty" carrying 40,00 tons of genetically modified soy coming from Argentina along the coast of Chioggia.
