Yesterday the social center of Ungdomshuset was evicted in Copenhagen. Cops did a Rambo-thing in the early morning flying squat teams in in helicopters.
During the day a number of actions and smaller/medium size riots took place around Copenhagen in several neighbourhoods (Nørrebro, Østerbro, Christiania etc.)
In the evening, a major demonstration tried going back to the house. Police blocked the demo and this resulted in heavy riots. From 5 pm. til the early morning heavy rioting took place in every street of Nørrebro where thousands of people were involved - from the activists to the arab kids of the hood, to the local drunkards and the people coming from who knows where. Simultaneously a major riot started on the other side of town around Christiania where hundreds of people participated into the early morning. At eleven last night the police admitted to have lost control.
More than 200 people were arrested during the riots.
This morning activists squatted the national office of the Social Democrats (the social democrats were responsible for selling the house back in 2001) and more demonstrations will take place during the weekend.
