Tuesday March 6th, 2007 14:40 Milano: General Danish Consolate occupied : UngdomsHuset is everywhere!

Today as in Venice also in Milan another action in support of Ungdomshuset and the hundreds of activistes arrested in Copenhagen. Also in Milano the Danish Consolate is occupied and closed. "Ungdomshuset lives in every city! Ungdomshuset is everywhere!" and "Ungdomshuset Now! Free all Now!" are the big banners closing the streets and main entrance of the Consolate and the written the italian activistes left on the Danish General Consolate’s building in Milano, Italy. The sound system van of the Social Center Cantiere and industrial fences blocked the street and isolated the Danish Consolate. Several activistes are also inside the building. On the industrial fences used to block the street writings quoted "Work in progress for devastion of public spaces". Hanged on the walls and given to passengers flyers marked by "danish consolate" reported ironical turistic slogans and pictures of the Ungdomshuset demolitions. As the famous statue symbol of Copenhagen also the diplomatic car of the consolar in charge changed its color because of the shame for the eviction, demolition and massive arrestes of those days. The consolate car of the general consolar in charge was fully painted in pink!

This action of closing and isolation of the Danish Consolates and Ambassies as others in Italy and in all the world wants to send a clear message : "It is no possible to clear thought a demolition 25 years od dreams. It is no possible to clear a space as Ungdomshuset with an army’s blitz. It is no possible to clear public spaces and common goods".

"The Danish Government has closed its borders, imported war and militarization inside the cities, answered with the police to the demand of spaces, culture, dreams, rights. Today we close the Danish Consolate in order to send a strong message to the Danish Government : You thought to clear Ungdomshuset, but today Ungdomshuset is stronger than before, because Ungdomshuset is alive everywhere!"
