In connection with the informal NATO meeting being held in Oslo, Norway, several thousands of people protested against the war in Afghanistan. The social centre Blitz had called for informal demonstrations following the official one, and succeeded in blocking the main entrance to a dinner being held at Oslo’s city hall.
After clashes with police, more than 250 people were arrested. While they were being held in custody, the police raided Blitz and confiscated fireworks (presented as "explosives" in the media) and more than a hundred boxes filled with cobble stones and bricks – boxes that has been stored in the stairway for more than 15 years, intended for defending the house when it was threatenedwith eviction some years ago. "NATO throws bombs, not Blitz," the house says in a press release this morning.
Several politicians has now called for an eviction of the house. Blitz is celebrating its 25th birthday this weekend, and has no intention of being evicted, however.
An interview with Jonas, from Oslo.
