Bush arrives Friday for a series of official meetings, in Rome he will meet Berlusconi and then visit the Vatican. Overwhelming security measures are beign implemented to protect the american president and for the military parade schedualed for tomorrow, Wednesday June 2nd, the 60th anniversary of the Republic.

In a difficult political climate for the governemnt - the war in Iraq, the coming elections, the recent declarations of Fazio and Montezemolo, etc - the preperations for Bush’s visit are being made. Yesterday evening the National Committee for Public order decided that the march will be permitted to pass into Piazza Venezia.

Wednesday June 2nd: Festival of the Republic - No War Parades!-

Social movements have been launching appeals for weeks to go into piazza to contest the numerous military parades that will take place tomorrow in all of Italy for the 60th anniversary of the Republic.
"On the 2nd it is right to contest these parades, in reality there is nothing to celebrate about war: it is dispicable and shameful," a comment from Luca Casarini.

Hinc sunt leones: Close the door in Bush’s face -
“The 4th will be a day of general and diffused mobilization in the attempt to define a new map of the city of Rome, stabilizing which are the zones where the control of the War Emporor cannot pass," comments Francesco Rapareli, Sapienza Pirata/GlobalProject Rome.

Global Project

In particolare GlobalRadio will follow all of the initiative live from the Rome studios while GlobalTv will transmit in streaming video.

Precarious and students against Bush –
“Students and precarious will stop the industry of knowledge and reclaim the streets, paralyzing the city. They will do it starting with the San Lorenzo quarter, the still shows the wounds of the second world war, from the occupation and the resistence," explains Francesco Raparelli, Sapienza Pirata/Global Project.

Appointment in piazzale Aldo Moro at 9:30.
