Invitation
In January 2005 in Berlin, several groups from all over Europe have officially created the Euromayday Network in order to collectively organize a series of mobilizations and actions from now til May 1st.
For the last 4 years, the traditional May 1st demonstration has become a day to emphasize on the one hand the increasing precarization of our lives and employment situations, on the other hand the emergence of new forms of struggles.
Mayday has became more European each year, spreading to new cities, and aggregating the various social forces concerned by the claim of new social rights: part-time and interim employees, students, unemployed without social guarantee, culture intermittents, migrants…
In this logic, April 2nd 2005, the second European day of action for freedom of movement and the right to stay, will fully become part of the agenda of the actions leading to the Mayday parade.
Beyond the Mayday meeting, it is a whole political process:
identification of the specific forms of precarity we experiment at both European and national levels,
sharing of struggles and knowledge tools we invent from our pratices.
collective answer to coercive politics imposed upon employees, part-time workers and full-time workers.
Through the constitution of a European network, we aim not only to make publicly visible the issue of precarities and to offer analyses about their function in contemporary economy, or in the recomposition of work management methods. We also want to propose at the European level an area of expression and claims, for everyone to grab it.
The meeting organized in Paris on March 11-12-13 2005 at the Coordination des intermittents et précaires d’Ile-de-France will be a first step this collective process.
We invite all groups engaged in the Euromayday process, in order to work collectively on the questions raised at the Berlin meeting on the organisation of mobilizations from April 2nd to May 1st 2005 (implementation of actions, manifesto, graphic chart, communication…).
We join to this invitation a proposition of agenda and ask people and groups interested in the Paris meeting to answer as soon as possible on the Euromayday mailing-list, giving confirmation of their participation and indicating how many people to lodge.
We also ask the different groups to work on the agenda and to give procuration to those present in Paris, in order to allow these two days to be the conclusive Assembly of Euromayday 2005.
From April 2nd to May 1st, our actions won’t stop!
