Israeli Forces shot and killed Beriz Al-Minawi, a 19-year-old Palestinian woman, in the West Bank city of Nablus on Friday September 17, 2004.
Beriz Al-Minawi was shot in the heart as she stood on the roof of her house, calling her brothers to come back inside as Israeli soldiers were patrolling the area.
Witnesses confirmed that no clashes between Palestinian youths and Israeli soldiers were happening in the area where Al-Minawi was killed.
This crime takes place just two days after Israeli forces assassinated ten Palestinians including a child in the West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin. The young child was 11 year old Maram Nahleh from Nablus who was standing at the gate of her house near the scene of the fighting when she was shot with live ammunition in the face, killing her instantly.
Since September 2000, Israeli forces have killed more than 3000 Palestinians -19% of them were children below the age of18. At least 82% were civilians.
In another incident, a Palestinian prisoner named Fawaz Bolbol died inside the Israeli Majedo jail because he was denied medical attention.
Bolbol who was arrested on the 14th of April 2003 had complained two days before of chest pain. He asked the prison guards to transfer him to a medical clinic but his request for help was denied. Finally, Bolbol who kept requesting medical help was given a pain killer.
Bolbol’s health condition only got worse. With this, prison guards transferred him to hospital. However, according to the Mandela Institute, a Palestinian prisoner’s rights organization, the Israeli prison administration did not transfer Bolbol to hospital but instead kept him in the prison clinic until he died.
