Agire nella Crisi goes to No Border Camp

8 / 7 / 2016

Migrations are becoming day by day more relevant in the European political and socio-economic scenario. On the onehand, the EU  is managing the arrivals from outside the continent trying to stop them through criminal agreements with Erdogan's terrorist Turkey, as well as with many African dictators. These agreements endorsed by the neoliberal élites are also giving power to the right-wing parties which all over Europe are becoming stronger and stronger by spreadingtheir racist and xenophobic discourse.

On the other hand, the freedom of circulation inside Europe itself is going througha huge crisis after the latest UK's referendum about the Brexit. Indeed one of the main aims of the "Leave" proposal wasin fact to regulate and decrease the amount of immigrants in the country, both from inside and outside the EU borders. In those times of darkness and fear we have decided, as Agire nella Crisi and Global Project, to answer the call of the No Border Camp, that will be held from the 15th of July to the 24th. We will join the initiative since we strongly believe thatthe solution to these dark times have to be found into transnational organisation and social movements, privilegedground to fight back the criminal agreements and the new right-wing wave.

People from all over Europe, long time comrades like InterventionisticheLinke and many others will join the camp to exchange their experiences through workshops and to take action against the criminal EU migration policy. Moreover, as we deeply understand the importance of European networking, we will not come alone. We are going to join the Beyond Europe convoy that will start from Frankfurt to Thessaloniki and will pass through Milan to participate at the NoBorder Fest, link to progam of workshops and NoBorder Cup hosted by the BlackPanters FC and Ancona to take action and to share information on the 11th and 12th of July.

Thanks to the #Overthefortress campaign hundreds of people from Italy have passed through the camp of Idomeni, located near Salonicco. More than 250 people participated to the #overthefortress event in March, and many others werethere thanks to the relay that had been functioning since March.

We had been living in the Idomeni camp in order to support the migrants and to report what was happening on a daily level. On the second day of our permanence in Idomeni greek police didn’t allow hundreds of activists to enter the camp: our answer was a demonstration in Salonicco in front of the House of Government. So the No Border Camp won’t be our first time in the city.

We were also present during the eviction of all the informal camps. And we are keeping on being there collectinginformation about the infamous situation of the governamental camps. All those experiences have brought us to thinkabout how to properly share them. That's why, invited also by the Greek comrades, we have decided to manage a workshop at the No Border Camp about the #Overthefortress campaign, namely about what we have done in Idomeni. We don’t have the purpose to glorify ourselves: we just want to put in common projects, to collect useful suggestions, impressions and relationships.

Even if their future is unpredictable, we also hope to share the organization of that workshop with all the migrant friends who have always been an active and fundamental part of our team in all our projects. Many of them are still stuck in Greece in governamental camps. Hopefully, they will join us at the No Border Camp, as well as many other migrants, to assist to the workshops and also to take part to the action days. This example is and will be really important for everybody. The movements' ability to include the migrants and to create convergences with the European citizens has to be enhanced and amplified. We are facing a political transformation of Europe both on the inner side and on the externalside that is redefining social and civil rights of all its inhabitants. We are heading towards a restriction on the concept and practice of citizenship, that is of our right to have a free life and to choose if we want to move and where we want to live. That is the reason why we are willing to struggle side by side with migrants. That is why with them we want to build from below another Europe and together stand #Overthefortress.
